Momentum Transport Canada continues growth with appointments of Florence Malgras and Carys Aspden

Momentum Canada welcomes two graduates, Florence Malgras and Carys Aspden, who have recently joined the team as Assistant Consultants.

Florence completed her bachelor’s degree in urban studies, Political Science, and Hispanic Studies at McGill University in Montreal. During her studies, she developed an interest in active transportation planning, which led her to focus her honors thesis on the perception of cyclist safety in Paris. She quickly became interested in the challenges related to improving the pedestrian and cyclist experience in cities.

Before joining Momentum, Florence interned at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where she participated in research on the expansion of African urban areas.

At Momentum, Florence has worked on projects to improve universal accessibility, residential developments, leisure projects, and visitor experiences at events.

Regarding her appointment, Florence stated: “The variety of projects that Momentum works on demonstrates the importance of its expertise and the added value it brings across cities. The mobility of people is at the heart of development projects, and Momentum’s human-centered approach makes the work truly enriching and exciting.”

Carys completed her master’s degree in civil engineering with a modern language at the University of Sheffield, UK, with a year of study at the University of Granada, Spain. Throughout her degree she learned about how to promote low-carbon and accessible modes of transport across different cities and cultures and is passionate about how this can contribute to healthier and more sustainable lifestyles.

At Momentum, she has so far worked on various traffic and pedestrian modelling projects and has helped contribute to the concept design of sites in the cultural and residential sectors. She will continue to support the development of key projects in Canada and the United States by contributing her technical expertise.

Carys mentioned: “The need for sustainable and inclusive transport solutions is greater than ever, and I am very excited to be working for Momentum, where people and sustainability come first. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects spanning cities, cultural landmarks, schools and more, and therefore being able to witness the wide-reaching impact of ethical, people-focused design.”

Amélie Cossé, director and co-founder of Momentum Transport Canada, added: “It is a pleasure to welcome Florence and Carys to the team, who bring their complementary political science and civil engineering backgrounds to the diverse team of Momentum in Montreal. Our team is looking forward to help them grow as transport consultants through exciting project perspectives in Quebec, Ontario and the US.”
